Rebecca finishes Runner-Up at Tennis Europe event

Rebecca Heaps, who trains at Delta Tennis Centre, Swindon, finished the Easter holidays on a high at the Tennis Europe 14U event at Nottingham last week.

The week started with a tough draw against the No 1 seeded Belgian girl Flo Helsen, Rebecca won 7-6 6-0. A great start.

Next round was against the British girl Amelie Brooks who Rebecca breezed past 6-2 6-1. Next was a South West rival, Mimi Xu, With Rebecca losing the first set 6-1 it looked like the week was over but she managed to bring it back and win the next two sets 6-3 6-4.

On Semi finals day she was up against Emily Pollard. After rain delays and a move onto the indoor courts, Rebecca won with a comfortable 6-1 6-4.

Into the finals we go, Gabia Paskauskas was going to be a tough one having lost to her at the grade 2 event the previous week. The match was great and the points went on and on with each girl refusing to give in but unfortunately it wasn’t to be for Rebecca who lost 6-3 7-5. A fantastic week was had and lots learnt from the week. Well done Rebecca!
