Wiltshire 12U Girls finish 3rd in the Country at County Cup

The Wiltshire 12U Girls team won their qualifying event at the LTA County Cup and qualified for the National Finals at Bolton. They went onto finish 3rd in the Country. Read Captain, Becky Prince’s report below:

We arrived in Bolton at 11.58am for our practice time of 12-12.30, perfectly timed driving from Neil. We had a stomach bug in the team so things didn’t seem to be going to plan however the girls fought well and won their first round 3-1. Within a very hungry and tired team we then went off to the Trafford centre for a well deserved Italian. Next day we had to finish off the group stages, first against Yorkshire which we again won 3-1 with a happier and less ill team. The doubles play from Rebecca and Jessica was improving each match too which was helping us to seal the deal at 3-1. Next up Leicestershire, the number one seeds, this was going to be a tough ask against the no.1 and 7 in the country, the girls tried very hard but lost 3-1 in the end.  The 3/4th play off next against Lancashire – the girls were going to have to be on form here too against a very solid Lancashire team. 2-1 up after singles it was down to the doubles and the girls clinched the win in a very tense tie break third set. To come third in the country was an excellent achievement and it was an absolute pleasure to be captain of this team.
